How did transcendental meditation heal this?
My sister had a date with a man who teaches physics and math for a Maharishi University in Fairfield, Iowa. She says it wasn’t a love connection, but we are curious about how he did this!
She told him that her wrist and lower back hurt, then he held his hand over her sore area. She could feel the heat from his hand, and when he was done, the pain was gone. (He did it once for each injured area.)
I have done some research and know what transcendental meditation is, but what is the connection with physics and math?
My sister took my mom to him today to see if he can help her with her back pain. I’m sure my mom will be able to give me more details about how he works.
He does not charge to do this, but he says it is a gift from God.
So… what is the connection with math and physics? Is the connection real, or is the truth that the math and physics he teaches, is concocted to sway the learners who pay the 2500 fee for learning to meditate?
This man’s ability is not directly related to TM –or math or physics for that matter. It is a form of energy healing and has many variants. (Reiki is one, Pranic Healing is another). Therapeutic Touch, which is taught to lay people and nurses, sounds similar to what this man did. I can do this myself and learned it in a little weekend workshop at a local college many years ago I and occasionally took refresher workshops. There are many different theories about why this sometimes work–but they are all theories, and clinical studies about the phenomenon haven’t come out with a clear answer about the mechanism. It’s origins are in beliefs about “laying on of the hands” which we read about in the Gospels (Jesus did it).
The man’s meditative and other spiritual practices probably help in his skill as an energy healer but, again, the skill is not directly related to TM.
TM is simply a meditation practice in which you are given a simple mantra (a little word–usually the name of a Hindu deity). You are taught basic and commonly known meditation instructions and sent home to do the meditation. For that you pay $2500 in TM. (That is called “a rip-off”). If you meditate while mentally and rhythmically reciting a meaningful word or sound what will happen? You will calm the mind and feel more peaceful. Being more peaceful, you will be more focused and perceptive and more effective and efficient in ordinary life. You may also modify brain wave activity so that you have interesting meditative experiences and insights that carryover into ordinary life.
