
Hypnosis for Weight Loss – Changing Habits
In my office in New York I use hypnosis to help people get back control of their habits and behaviors. I help them to eliminate the old unhealthy habits, teaching them how to replace those old habits with new healthier behaviors and then I work with them so that these new behaviors become conditioned habitual responses. And when it has reason to lose weight becomes the natural response to healthier behaviors
You see, it is our habits, our unthinking, unconscious patterns, we start in most problems. If we long to walk every day in our house at the end of the workday, and decreased our packages on the ground, and fled in the kitchen for a treatment for certain types of non-essential foods (unhealthy foods), then we plop on the couch watching TV, then all day, we feel compelled to do the same unhealthy activity. In fact, if we omit this activity, our normal daily list of things to do, we will first feel a bad mood. We feel out of balance. Things do not seem right. You can replace this activity with an unhealthy healthier. If we complete our work day with a trip to the gym, or yoga, meditation or the circle, we can create the same kind of response conditioned to a healthier behavior. And when we do not follow through this new healthier behavior, we get the same feelings of being bad mood, off balance, or not feeling well. And these feelings of discomfort will motivate us to stay on track with healthy behavior, rather than unhealthy behavior.
How hypnosis help me develop good habits?
trance is a state where we become more suggestible. We tend to believe and accept whatever suggestions are put into the subconscious when we are in hypnotic trance. In my office, I suggest to my clients they will start to behave differently. I think they will start to behave how they agreed to behave during our conversation pre-session brief. I connect the old behavior very unpleasant feeling or experience so they will be motivated to stop doing this unhealthy behavior. Then I have my clients practice the new behavior and connect it to a very pleasant feeling or experience so they are motivated to follow the new healthier behavior.
Why this process hypnosis works?
Now the reason this works is that we tend to move away from things that feel evil and head to the things that make us feel good. You've heard the metaphor of the donkey be coaxed two ways. With a carrot and a stick. Basically, it is providing my clients with their own carrot and stick. Nudging them along a path that will lead to healthy choices that are they need to reduce their current weight and keep them able to maintain this weight as long as they want to maintain this lifestyle healthy. This is a change of lifestyle, not a repair as quick as a diet short term, because it is so restrictive, is unsustainable. When you change your lifestyle and it becomes habitual, it becomes as easy as brushing your teeth every morning, or wash hands at specific times. And because the habits are so powerful, we make them powerful allies in our program of weight loss.
In summary
It becomes a very powerful means that hypnosis is effective in helping my clients become thinner, healthier and happier. Hypnosis is also a pleasant experience for people so they have fun and feel very relaxed and more capable. Just a by-product of this rewarding way to make changes permanent.
