
How can I protect myself from other’s emotions?
I’m an Empath, I can sense the feelings and sometimes thoughts of others. I have noticed often I seem to obsorbed emotions, that come into me from others. It might be feelings of great excitment, despair, or sadness, but they do not relate to the situation at all. I have done a visualisation for protection, and white light buble protection, as well as meditation, and other visualizations, but these do not seem to filter out these feelings. I seem to experience collective feelings also that are really intense. I have been to counsellors, they basically told me to practice positive thinking, but this does not block out these feelings from others. In many ways it is an advantage but the sensitivity actually seems to cripple me, also I can’t bear to be around people if they get angry or upset. I learn Relaxation Techniques, but they don’t seem to help much. Also in buildings that have psychic remance I can sometimes be adversely affected, time and space seem to make little effect.
I’m sorry, but as an Empath, you can not protect yourself from other emotions. Feeling emotions is what your made of. If not for people like you, then this world would in more pain and trouble than it already is.
Forget all the New Age crap and use your gift to help others. You don’t have to be a councellor or the like, just be their for people. Empaths have a great gift of being able to put into words, what others are feeling and my experience has shown me that this is a blessing for them.
Yes you will feel the whole gamit of emotions that are out there, but they are not yours, remember that. I have trouble being in shopping centres or places where large crowds gather, the diversity of emotional states that congregate are overwhelming for me. Sometimes, when there are too many in my house, I have to leave the room or go outside for a bit, because it becomes too much and it can just be my family.
You can always do what I do to release it all and that’s is when your on your own, have a good cry or yell, go sit in solitude in a naturous place and just feel the calmness from that. I’m sorry, that this is all I can offer you, but you cannot change how you were made and you my pet, were made to be Empathic.
