What classic is easier and more enjoyable?
After years of engaging in non-fiction, I finally decided to read some fiction voluntarily (ie, not part of English literature 10 U.S.). I want to read a classic, no less, after I discovered that I really liked The Grapes of Wrath. I am considering the following (not all fiction), and some opinions would be nice: D War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy Meditations, Marcus Aurelius Communist Manifesto, Marx Moby Dick, Herman Melville Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte Do not post additional suggestions.
Among those you listed, Jane Eyre is the most read. I have an abridged version of Moby Dick that I read when I was about 10 or 11 years, and loved. Other classics that you might enjoy: Vanity Fair, William Green Mansions Thackery, William Henry Hudson Les Miserables, Victor Hugo David Copperfield by Charles Dickens (someone else suggested, and I totally agree!) Too Late the Phalarope, Alan Paton To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee Oliver Twist, Charles Dickens' Around the World in eighty days, Jules Verne (This has got to be one of the most fun ever reads) Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain Gosta Berling, Selma Lagerlof (You will have to hunt to find it. It's a classic Swedish and enjoyable to read. Try your library Public and interlibrary loan)
